Dear 2012

Dear 2012,

I would like to take this time to welcome you into my life; home, work, relationships, etc. I would like to get off on the right foot this New Year and be straight forward and up front with you, as much as I can.

This year, I plan to be agreeable and satisfied with whatever you decide to bestow upon me. I will try not to complain and belly-ache (so much). I will be happy and content with my life in this New Year 2012. I welcome you. I will accept that I have a great life, I will not want more. I will be satisfied with what I have and be grateful for it. And we all know that gratitude is not a feeling but a form of action. I will take action on my gratitude by loving my family, cleaning my house, working to help provide food and shelter, putting others first, and whatever else I can do.

As part of my new commitment to live a simpler life in 2012 I also plan to write down everything, read more books, and listen. I will not react. I will try not to react. I will not react. I will try my best to take it all in, think about it, pray over it, talk about it with others before making any sort of decision.

Also, while I’m at it, when I’m shopping I plan to use the three day rule. If I come across something in a store, or online, I will try my very best to walk away for three days before making the purchase. This has worked well the one or two times I have practiced it before.

Okay, I can’t think of anything else right now. I have already cut out a lot of things from my life to help make things more simple. I will keep my Boot Camp regimen. And I joined a book club. I am going to try and participate in the local writing group too but it will be limited. So those are the only three things I’m allowing myself to be selfish with in 2012. Unless some sort of writing workshop presents itself of course. 🙂 Oh, and the once a month gathering of the Rocket City Bloggers!

Other than that, I am staying home to enjoy my family and hopefully manage to get some writing/reading time in somehow. I will also continue to blog but it will not be anything serious, it is just something fun to do. I will NOT seek to blog anywhere else but on my own blog, this one.

I will not want more money, food, sweets, bigger house, me time, freedom, fame, fortune, acknowledgements, getaways, praise, vacations, friends, success, jobs, careers, travel, dreams, technology, clothes, shoes, accessories, trinkets, space, or whatever else I’m forgetting about right now.

My commitment is to just go with the flow, think of others first and experience my part as a wife, mother, friend, employee.

Be simple. Live simple. Enjoy gratitude.

Welcome 2012.

So the kids and I spent some quality time together; cleaning and organizing. I cleaned out my closet, dresser drawers, and desk area in my bedroom. The kids spent time taking down the Christmas tree and decorations. Our house is small enough to where we could still communicate with each other while we were doing our own thing. Plus, they would take breaks and come sit with me in my room while I worked. I was so thankful they took down the Christmas tree. I know it’s not time to take down the tree but since I was cleaning out and organizing our bedroom and we had a chair stuffed in there that normally resides in the living room, we needed to take down the tree to move the chair back out. Bad Catholics. 🙁

Anyway, I wanted to share with you some photographs I took of my day; before and after pictures.

Also, I was supposed to spend time with some of the Huntsville Adventure Boot Camp people tonight at dinner but I decided to stay in to spend more time with the family. The Boy goes back to school on Monday and I want to spend as much time with him as I can. I also canceled an appointment last night too, so I could stay home and spend time with The Boy and the family. This is another reason I took off this week from work.

2012 Preparation

So I’ve decided to take this coming week off from work. It’s for a couple of different reasons. The number 1 reason is to spend some time with The Boy before he has to go back to school and the number 2 reason is to hopefully get some cleaning and organizing done around the house to get ready for 2012. I want to enter this year with a simple, healthy, and organized attitude.

Some areas that I seriously need to tend to around the house are:

  • My dresser drawers
  • My closet
  • Bathroom
  • Desk and bedroom
  • So yeah, all of my personal areas of the house! I need to clean out, toss some things, and do some organizing. Small projects but overdue for sure. It always makes me feel better to clean and organize my life.

I should probably do something with the car too. It is starting to have an odor. It has over 260,000 miles on it and it’s going down hill fast (interior-wise) but it still runs great. I need to give it a good once over; buffing, vacuuming, shining, and so forth.

Oh and if I have time, I’ll get around to the kitchen cabinets. I’ll save those for last.

Besides, this would make for some good blog posts; before and after photographs. Also, if I blog it then I definitely have to do it now, huh?

What about you? Do you have any year-end traditions?
