Chapter 5 opens up with Caitlin telling the truth about women and shopping. Most of us hate it. We do not love shopping and quite frankly I find it fascinating how society thinks that women are supposed to love shopping.
Like all the other chapters Ms Moran starts the chapter with reflecting being age 15 and recapping some sort of teenaged experience that all girls have had at one point in time. This one is about needing new underwear.

Today was my yearly mammogram. Oh joy and lucky me. It wasn’t that bad, actually. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I kid you not. I timed it. I remember last year when I went in and remembering being stunned how quickly they moved. I was the only one there so they must have hired a super smart scheduler.

Chapter 4 – I Am A Feminist!
I guess one can’t write a book about feminism without first bringing The Female Eunuch by Germaine Greer into the discussion. I’ll be honest, I had never heard of the book nor the author before reading How To Be A Woman and I doubt I’ll go run out and get it or download it to my Nook any time soon simply for the fact of the first paragraph that Caitlin Moran types out in Chapter 4. I’ll spare you.
