So this brilliant idea is swirling around in my head and it’s all I can think about lately. I want to plan a bloggers trip to New Orleans.
I’m thinking December 10 – 13 which just happens to be my birthday weekend. 🙂 And most importantly, college SEC football season will have just ended; no worrying about anyone missing their favorite team play on a Saturday.
The Gent and I went last year around this time (September) and it was my first time ever to visit The Big Easy. At first, I didn’t want to go. I had no desire to ever visit NOLA. I watched too many COPS shows and television news about the city.
Then, via work, I had the opportunity to attend a professional conference that just happened to take place in New Orleans. I was too afraid to go alone so I asked The Gent to come with me. He, of course, has been to NOLA and he said I had nothing to worry about and he jumped at the chance to head back to New Orleans.
We had such a good time. I had no idea. I LOVE NOLA! What a fun and eclectic city. It’s small but so big. Culturally dynamic, it has what I crave. Oh, and the food, the trip just for the food would be worth it.
Amtrak runs from Birmingham to New Orleans daily via their Crescent line. The price tag for a ticket is $44.00, one-way. It is a 7-hour ride which really isn’t that bad. It would take about that long to drive it on your own, from Huntsville.
Wouldn’t it be fun to gather up a group of bloggers and make this trip? Oh my word! SO MUCH FUN. We could share room rates if all girls went of course. Those details would still need to be worked out because I am sure some women would want to take their husbands and do their own thing, which is fine but I am really looking for some girl time to do this trip. We could always do a separate trip with our Gents, later.
This little gem is available for the timeframe I want. And if we gathered up 10-bloggers, it would only cost $40.00 per person, per night. AND.. since it isn’t a hotel, we could do a couples theme! It would still cost $40.00 per person, per night, but still, this beats hotel rates if we divide it up. Plus, it would be comfortable. It’s about 4.5 miles away from the French Quarter, a quick cab ride.
Anyway, that is what is occupying my brain these days.
Kindest regards from my wanderlust gypsy-heart. And remember, you saw it here first.
Thanks for reading and show me your moxie!
