I want to be a Christmas runaway. The kids are grown, and one of them is not even in the same state anymore, why not travel for Christmas. I’d love to go somewhere else for the holiday.
So, I’ve been researching places to visit during the holiday season and this is what I’ve found.
- A stay at The Read House and Christmas dinner in the hotel’s restaurant The Bridgeman’s Chophouse. Also open on Christmas day, Beast & Barrel if we wanted to have dinner outside of the hotel.
- Knoxville Christmas, walk the Peppermint Trail on Christmas Day. I don’t care if all the stores are closed, it would still be fun to walk around downtown amongst the decorations. Stay at either The Oliver Hotel or The Tennessean.
- Christmas at Graceland. I’ve always wanted to visit. So why not at Christmastime? We could stay at the Guesthouse at Graceland but I think I would prefer The Peabody where you can have a nice Christmas dinner too.
You know, just a few days of getaway. I am talking Christmas Eve through December 26th. The only things open and happening are the hotels which is FINE WITH ME!
I don’t even want to put up the tree this year. I am not being a humbug, it’s just that I don’t see the purpose or joy in it if the kids are grown and out of the house. I don’t want a constant reminder of that and the tree being up would be that constant reminder.
So I say to The Gent, let’s runaway for Christmas. If you have any other ideas or experience with getting away for Christmas, please share them in the comment section.
