CrossFit Games 15.5 Reflection

I was so super excited when this last week’s CrossFit Games workout was announced for 15.5. I knew I could totally do the Rx (prescribed) WOD!!

So what was the 15.5 WOD?

27 * 21* 15 * 9 of the following:

Calorie Row
Thrusters at 65#
(for time)

So that meant rowing for 27 calories then do 27 thrusters
Row 21 calories, 21 thrusters
Row 15 calories, 15 thrusters
Row 9 calories, 9 thrusters

Now, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy or pretty but I knew I could do it. My goal was to get it done in 30 minutes or less. I completed it in 20:55 and was thrilled!

I watched the three competitive top CrossFit ladies compete in the workout last night. MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS! Sam Briggs did it in SEVEN MINUTES!

SEVEN MINUTES!

Like I said, I knew I could do it, the prescribed WOD (Rx) but I knew my time would be crappy. But I was good with that and was excited I was going to be able to do an Rx workout, period. I knew I would go slow and steady, pacing myself. I just wanted to get it in under 30 minutes.

Our warm-up was none other than rowing, finding that damper setting and getting loose. We also did some empty bar push presses, squats. We rowed 500 meters and then switched to calorie setting to see what we had done, it was 28 calories, I think? So that helped me figure out what sort of rowing to expect. Because normally we row in meters and not calories.

I broke the thrusters down into sets of 3s. Thank you Christina for that suggestion! I knew I was going to break them down but I was going to try sets of 5s. Three was MUCH BETTER.

My rest time was actually at the rower where I could catch my breath and recover form the thrusters a little.

Red-faced and all! Ha! I’m still kind of proud of it. No, I am a lot proud of it! And it was Christina’s idea to snap the photo because all I was trying to think about at this point in time was not throwing up!

Breakfast, Panera Bread

Celebrated with a post WOD breakfast at Panera with the Power Almond Quinoa Oatmeal.

And have I told you lately how much I LOVE CROSSFIT?! I mean you know I must love it to show my red-face, sweaty, no make-up post workout picture! Ha! I wish I could do CrossFit for forever! Life-changing fitness indeed!
