First time using Craigslist and looky what I found. Meet Barbie Barbell. Yes, I’ve named her. Snagged her up for $40.00 on Craigslist. I had asked around about finding used or discounted workout equipment and Craigslist was one suggestion.
First Time Using Craigslist
Craigslist, boy was I ever nervous about using Craigslist. I have heard so many horror stories about this platform. Killings, robberies, soliciting sex, scammers, and spammers – yeah, I was a little skeptical about using Craigslist.
But eventually, I thought what the heck. I’ll just be extra careful. I know, famous last words. Nonetheless, onto Craigslist I went to find some CrossFit equipment.
Of course, one of the first things I found, a barbell. This person had some other equipment for sale but I was mainly interested in the barbell. I contacted the person via the messaging system, careful to use some generic email and no names.
I got a reply fairly quickly, the same day anyway. We communicated back and forth over the next couple of days, both of us apparently busy people. I could tell by the emails that this person was educated; all words were spelled correctly and sentences were grammatically correct.
Finally, we decided and selected a public place to meet. I let them pick the place just to see what they would offer up. Thankfully, it was a very public safe place.
I got there early, as I suppose the other person did as well, to you know, scope everything out. The last correspondence I received was from “Wendy” and she said she would be driving a 4-door white car and she even gave me her cell number. I was still cautious, of course.
But Wendy showed up and she was who she said she was, she was also alone. She had a barbell for me. I gave her cash. We loaded the barbell in my car and then we parted. It was freakin’ AWESOME.
[Tweet theme=”tweet-box-shadow”]I got a 35lb barbell for $40 from Craigslist. I am so stinkin’ stoked! [/Tweet] Now I know what to ask for Christmas – rubber plates! And a home gym begins.
