Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine

This week is yet another hair care product up for review on the blog. For having short hair I sure do use a lot of hair stuff. Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serumis another product I’ve used for years now.

For the life of me, though, I cannot remember how or why I started using it. It was probably suggested by a hair stylist somewhere along the way. I do remember, though, that I only started using it when I chopped off my long hair and went with the short look. My hair is not frizzy normally. It is thin and hardly any volume so the fly-aways probably do occur. I definitely started using the Sleek & Shine before I went blonde. And when I use the Sleek & Shine my hair does seem to be more manageable, it does more of what I want it to do – it lays down better and in place. My hair looks richer and healthier when I use the product.

Since going blonde, this product has really stepped up to the plate for me. My over processed hair tends to dry out and be on the low end of frizz when I don’t use this Sleek & Shine hair care product. It tames the frizz and helps make my bleach blonde/platinum hair look normal and healthy.

I don’t know if this is the hair product or if it is just me but I do notice that later in the day my forehead gets extremely oily but I don’t know if I can fully blame this on the hair serum or not. My skin is very oily all on its own, that’s for sure. I still cannot find a good skin care product for oily skin. Nothing seems to be able to tame that issue.

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine

But I digress….

One small pump (probably more like a half of pump) of the Sleek & Shine does the trick for my short hair. I put it in when my hair is still wet and blow dry it immediately after applying. I do not want my hair to dry naturally with the product still in it. I have done that before and I don’t like it – my hair is harder to manipulate when I let it dry naturally. I style it while I’m blow drying.

On the directions, it states you can put it in your hair damp or dry. I have not yet tried to put it in my hair after it is dry because I’m afraid the result would be just oily looking hair.

The main ingredients in the Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum are Ultra-smoothing Argan Oil from Morocco and Apricot Oil.

According to Wikipedia….

Argan oil remains one of the rarest oils in the world due to the small and very specific growing areas.

All argan sold today is produced by a women’s cooperative that shares the profits among the local women of the Berber tribe. The cooperative has established an ecosystem reforestation project so that the supply of argan oil will not run out and the income that is currently supporting the women will not disappear. The money is providing health care and education to the local women, and supporting the entire community as a whole.

Read more about the Cooperative….

Apricot oil is similar to peach or almond oils. These oils are best for softening the skin and more specifically, apricot oil could be best used on the scalp for its conditioning treatment. So it makes sense that this oil is in the Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum.

For me, this is one of the products I can’t substitute, or live without. I mean I could live without it but I prefer not to. It’s not that expensive so it’s not going to break the bank. This product can be found in Target, Publix, and most drug stores for under $5.00. This product (like my other hair products) can last for months. Sometimes it does pay to have really short hair.

I hope you enjoyed the review. If you have something to add please do so in the comment section.

  1. It does pay to have short hair! I’ve gone back to my short hair roots! LOVE IT. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
