I absolutely adore my in-laws.
My sister-in-law, Dana, is the ultimate entertainer. She puts Martha Stewart to shame. Every Christmas Eve, we head over to my husband’s family’s house and partake in an enchanting evening. Since The Gent and I have only been married three years, this is all still fairly new to me. But I love it.
Dana normally puts on a theme for her decorated table. Last year her theme was “Let It Snow” and we all remember what happened on Christmas day of 2010 don’t we? This year, the theme was “ice” and let’s hope it doesn’t come to fruition.
The Gent’s family is so welcoming, inviting, and easy to be around. I am always nervous to go but once I am there I’m always made to feel right at home, and my anxiety fades away quickly. Oh it just warms my heart to be with them. My in-laws have warmly welcomed my children and me into their family and I am grateful.
I feel so grown up and sophisticated at their dinner table. Regal is another good description of how I feel when I’m at their house when they entertain. I wish I knew how to do all of what Dana does. She is so talented!
You know, The Gent’s 50th birthday is right around the corner. I wonder if Dana would let me hire her to put something together? Because I am truly clueless.
Here are some more photos of the lovely table from Christmas Eve 2011 with the in-laws:
I mean isn’t this just absolutely gorgeous? It’s like something out of a magazine! And I love it.
