The Accidental Outfit. For a blogger who likes to blog about GLAM, I sure don’t have a ton of clothing in my small closet. Also, GLAM means other things too (makeup, beauty, skincare, events, etc).
The Accidental Outfit
I spend most of my clothing money on my work attire which requires me to wear a certain standard (mainly all black). And most of what I do on my days off are relaxing and staying in events, it leaves my other outfit choices somewhat limited.
If I’m not lounging around in my yoga pants or tooling around in my boyfriend jeans, then I am in a quandary on what to wear. So when I am going out for coffee with a friend, or dinner with The Gent, or some other local event I may have been invited to, trying to find an appropriate outfit from my limited collection of pieces can be difficult at times.
Most of the outfits I end up putting together are total accidents. I just rummage around and try different tops with bottoms or a scarf with this blazer or shorts with a hoodie, who knows what I’ll walk out the door wearing.
This week, I was excited to meet my blogging BFF for coffee. She recently purchased her forever home and has been busy moving in, getting her homestead ready. So when she texted me to schedule a coffee, I was thrilled!
The day arrived and I really wasn’t feeling that well but didn’t want to wear yoga pants either. I did want to make an effort. And this time of year in the south, you never know what kind of weather you’re gonna get either. It may start off cool and crisp in the morning but by lunchtime, you could have sizzling sweat rolling down your backside.
Trying to pick out an outfit is sometimes simply a process of elimination. Today was one such day for me. I knew I didn’t want to wear yoga pants and I also knew I didn’t want to wear my boyfriend jeans. Yoga pants would have been comfy for me today because of not feeling well but boyfriends jeans would have been too damned hot.
I tried on a couple of different pairs of casual skorts but couldn’t find an appropriate top. I am not ready for tank tops just yet. Rummaging through my drawers I found these shorts I haven’t put on in years! So then I found my sleeveless red blouse and threw on the yellow sweater, slipped on my Italian Shoemakers sandals and TAHDAH!
I am sure you have picked out outfits this way too. Surely I am not the only one. Share your favorite last minute impromptu outfit stories with me.
