The Cheesecake Factory in Birmingham, Alabama

When A Cougar Comes To Town

My friend, Constance, and I went down to Birmingham yesterday. It was my mission to visit the Jo Malone London boutique in the Saks at the Summit. I wanted to see if they would share any of their wisdom and knowledge with me. They did, I met with Darla, a lovely woman working in the boutique. I received some validity and met a new associate. It was a good visit.

But before we went to Jo Malone London, Constance and I were starving, so we went first to The Cheesecake Factory. We arrived right when the doors opened and were the first ones seated. A lively young man named Devon attended to us and our orders. What an endearing chap. It was sitting at The Cheesecake Factory, conversing with Devon, and being charmed by him, that I realized I was officially OLD.

That’s right, it suddenly dawned on me that Devon was simply charming an old woman. I have witnessed this before but it was never with me, it was always someone else, my Grandmothers, my Aunts, or Mothers-in-law.

It was okay, I didn’t mind. It made me feel good and of course Devon got a good tip too. Ha!

For the record, the food was fantabulous! I had the Farfalle with Chicken and Roasted Garlic, as recommended by the charismatic Devon. I have no idea how he knew what I wanted but he nailed it. I was going to get the Fish & Chips but when I mentioned it to him he made a face and suggested the Farfalle instead. I went with his suggestion and I am glad I did.

He was spot on with the dessert too. I was going to get the Red Velvet Cheesecake but he said I should get the Peppermint Bark instead. Since he was right about the entree, I decided to go with the Peppermint Bark. And again, I am glad I did.

After lunch, we headed over to Saks and did the whole Jo Malone London thing and then I saw them…. Jimmy and Manolo; Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik stilettos, to be exact. The skies cleared and the angels sang sweet hymns. I had to go over and just take a moment. I took a seat on the suede couch and gave a satisfied exhale. Of course I knew I could not have either one of them but I could look, lust, wish, and dream.

If being charmed by a young man and being in the presence of Jimmy and Manolo were not enough to quench my seven deadly sins, we then headed over to the quaint area of Homewood and visited Savages Bakery where I took home a dozen Meltaways without guilt.

The day was good and I enjoyed spending time with my friend. Thank you Constance for coming with me to Birmingham!

Thanks for reading and show me your moxie!
