Kaepernick is bitter. So I am sure you are reading all over the news and internet about Colin Kaepernick’s new Netflix “docudrama” with actors portraying the Kaepernick younger years and the events that lead him to become an activist.
The series is, of course, on Netflix and he compares the NFL draft to slave auctions. Snippets of it are being played everywhere and he’s getting some blowback about it, as he should.
The comparison is ridiculous. If you are talented enough and worked/trained your butt off to get to the NFL then good for you. Don’t forget, getting paid MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to play football. I don’t remember my history books talking about slaves having the choice to be a slave or not and certainly not getting paid millions of dollars for it.
The 49ers released Kaepernick and he opted out of his contract, making him a free-agent a few years ago. Some say it was because of his mouth and activism that got him booted out and some may say it was simply lack of talent and motivation. He tried to get back into the NFL and he even filed grievances over his perceived shut-out. So what is a bitter, mediocre, pouty-face activist quarterback to do? Run and cry to a streaming service. I mean really, do you know of anyone else (besides the press) that makes money from constantly complaining?
I want to make myself watch it but I don’t know if I have the stomach for it. The reason I want to watch it is so I can form my own opinions and review of it by watching it with my own eyes. It is doubtful that it will change my views on anything regarding Kaepernick though.
The second thing that bugs me is this article by StyleCaster that did this sample on Kaepernick and his white adoptive parents. It makes you wonder if he is bitter about all of it, being black but being raised by a white couple. I do have to give him credit though, he does consider them family thankfully and not white masters.
Side note, why does this article use a capital B when using the word black? I heard about this new way of writing and describing the races this way earlier in the week where writers and journalists are now doing this; using uppercase B for the word black but using all lowercase when using the word white when referring to race. It is stupid and they need to stop. Do not make this mainstream like you did with the silly pronouns.
And dear Colin, grow up.
