Billy Joel at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas

Just one week after my Tough Mudder, I had the privilege of seeing Billy Joel at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. It was a whirlwind weekend for sure, we flew out on Friday, spent Saturday night with Billy, and flew back to Huntsville on Sunday.

Billy Joel at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas

A few months ago, on SiriusXM, they had a temporary channel dedicated to all things Billy Joel. Now, I’ve always been a fan of Billy Joel so I was excited to listen to this channel and hear the stories behind the music from the man himself.

And one day, in the car with The Gent, I told him about the channel and made mention that it would be so awesome to see him in concert. I really didn’t think anything of it after that, figuring we would not get to go anytime soon because I had already wishfully looked up Mr. Joel’s concert schedule and saw nothing near us. So I put it out of my mind, like we all do with certain things.

Well, in the meantime, I had landed a new job and I wasn’t three days into my new job when I saw a memo note sitting on my new manager’s desk that read, “Call Carol’s husband” and it had his cell number on it. And I am the only Carol there. Let me tell you what, I was HOT MAD because I was like, “What the hell is my husband doing calling my boss?!!!” Totally out of his character. And I felt like I was in 4th grade again with my parents calling the school for whatever reason.

I immediately called The Gent to ask him, “WTF?” Then I felt horribly small when he told me it was SUPPOSED to a surprise, that we were going to go see Billy Joel. Apparently, he had already purchased the tickets when I was still at my OLD job and he wanted to know if it was going to be cool for me to take two days off at my new job or was he going to have to sell our tickets. Well, you get the picture.

Enjoy my little short clip of the concert. I didn’t want to spend too much time recording him because I wanted to fully enjoy and take it all in for myself.

And this next video is of our hotel room. We stayed at Live! By Loews. A new hotel positioned between AT&T Stadium (where the Dallas Cowboys play) and the Globe Life Park (where the Texas Rangers play).

While we were in Texas, and so close to Dallas, we also visited Dealey Plaza. I may blog about that later.
