The 2024 beauty advent calendars are starting to fill the shelves. Here is a list of what you can find.
I love a good advent calendar, and it is even better when it contains goodies like lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, skincare products, beauty tools, and fragrances—all the things a gal might need to make herself look and feel pretty.
But first, what is an advent calendar? Here is a brief video explaining the history of advent calendars.
Growing up, we had a cute Christmas tree-shaped advent calendar. Each day, you’d open a window on the tree to reveal the day and ornament. It was fun to do as we counted the days down to Christmas.
Advent Calendars
The beauty industry picked up on this concept and made it their own in beauty advent calendars. So the only part that confuses me is that since they are so-called “advent” calendars, shouldn’t you receive this gift well before Christmas? But we’ll move on.
We’ll start with a brand I have come to like – NYX. While the price point is very affordable, the products I’ve used are of excellent quality. I like their jumbo eye pencils and liquid lipstick. There is no skimping on their pigmentation.
NYX’s 24-piece Home Alone advent calendar costs $110.00, but a 40% off pop-up box will appear if you go to their website. Sign up for email or text notifications to receive 40% sitewide for their BLACK FRIDAY sale.
NYX Professional Makeup is teaming up with Disney and 20th Century Studios on a holiday-inspired collection from the “Home Alone” movie. The collection consists of products inspired by iconic moments from the film.
Featured products in the limited launch include:
A 24-piece advent calendar inspired by the beloved McCallister house;
A 12-piece mini lip kit packaged in a collectible paint can, a cheeky reference to Kevin McCallister’s hilarious burglar booby trap scene;
Two Butter Gloss Pizza Vaults, each featuring six hot and ready fan-favorite shades, a nod to Little Nero’s Pizza from the film;
An Ultimate “Battle Plan” 16-pan shadow palette to map out your next makeup look; and
A 14-piece pull-to-open surprise gift box, inspired by the infamous “Wet Bandits” characters, including gloss, highlight, blush and powder. – Drugstore News
We are going to skip advent calendars from Ulta because they like to promote men pretending to be women. We’ll skip Sephora’s advent calendar because Alexandria Ryan showed us their not-so-great mess of a jigsaw gift. By the way, follow her on X and subscribe to her YouTube channel.

Next up is e.l.f. – Sleigh The Holidays 24-Day Advent Calendar. I’ll be honest, and it looks underwhelming for $95.00. Granted, it describes that you’ll receive a lot of full-size items. The only minis included are the skincare products. And all the new shades are lovely.
What’s included in the makeup advent calendar:
2 Mini Skincare item
1 Full-size Eyeshadow Palette
1 Full-size Primer and 1 Travel-size Primer
2 Full-size Brushes
1 Full-size Blush (includes new shade!)
1 Full-size Sponge
1 Face Gems
5 Full-size Eye Products (includes 2 new shades)
2 Full-size Brow Product and 1 Travel-size Brow Product
4 Full-size Lip items (includes all New Shades!)
1 Full-size Makeup Mist & Set
1 Eyelash Curler
I’ll probably pass on this one for several reasons, but that’s just me. It would make a good gift if you wanted to buy it for someone. I think the products provided are decent. Come on, a full-size eyeshadow palette? Yes, please.
This next one is new to me: The Great Christmas Advent Calendar from Catrice Cosmetics. The calendar is listed at $70.00 and claims to include all full-size products. Let’s see what you get.

WOW! I may purchase that right now! Why have I not heard of this cosmetic line until now? Perhaps I got stuck in a routine. So I Googled where to buy Catrice Cosmetics in a store, and this came up.
Why are Catrice cosmetics so cheap?
How does Catrice keep its prices so low? Catrice values quality instead of expensive advertising. This allows us to invest in the development of high-quality, innovative products while keeping our prices low.
This is interesting, and it explains why I haven’t heard of it until now. Also, I like the way they give back with their Beauty Bus.
That’s all I have for now. Amazon and Google offer all kinds of beauty advent calendars. And can you believe it is that time of year? Thanksgiving is next week, ya’ll! Where in the world does time go? Do you have your holiday shopping done?
