What I Could Live Without

What I could live without. Do you ever wonder what you could live without? I do, from time to time I fantasize about being a minimalist.

For me, a minimalist lives in an uncluttered house. But what does that even look like? It’s probably different for everyone.

In my opinion, it would be modern and sleek furniture, muted colors, bright lights, and no knick knacks. Everything would have its place or storage area.

We really don’t have a lot of stuff sitting around or out and about. But we do have stuff in closets, cabinets, and drawers that I could clear out.

First, I would work on cleaning out the clothes we have acquired. I already do this on a regular basis and a recent home repair/remodel also forced us to eliminate items we have been needing to clear out.

You know, now that I am writing about this topic, I am realizing that I do not have a lot of stuff after all. My spouse on the other hand. He has shirts and jackets and pants and shoes he never wears but for some reason has decided to keep. I personally think he just doesn’t want to take the time to go through it. Or maybe some of it has sentimental value to him.

Our furniture would be the next big thing I would like to start over with. When we married, The Gent already had this furniture and while it is nice, it has also run its course. It is big, bulky, heavy, and dark. I want light, small, airy, and bright.

This also means we would need to paint the walls, which also means we need to redo some artwork on the walls.

Here are some other things I could live without (or get rid of some of this stuff):

  • Some books (keep a handful)
  • Some kitchen appliances
  • Some jewelry
  • Most knick-knacks
  • Shoes
  • Handbags/Totes
  • Some linens/towels
  • Dishes/pans/pots/glasses/cutlery

Well, basically, I want to clear out and get rid of some stuff and a lot of clutter. I am waiting on some remodeling that we need to get done on the house though. And when we can get new furniture.
