A Deliberate New Year. I am not one for making New Year’s resolutions, I haven’t done that since I was a kid. But I am for reflecting and seeing where I can improve. Because the older I get (just had a birthday) the more simpler I want my life to be.
While I am cleaning out closets and drawers, I also find I am figuring out what I want to clean out of my mind, body, and soul.
So it is no surprise that for the New Year, I have come to the understanding that I want to be deliberate.
Being deliberate, to me, means a lot of things.
It means saying what I mean. Which means I need to know what I want. Which means taking time to think.
It means weeding out those negative thoughts that have no meaning anymore and where I used to love storing them away that make for future self-doubting days.
It means using fewer words to say something.
It means stop wanting and start doing.
It means behaving actively grateful for my life.
It means moving slowly to enjoy the view.
It means refining my routine.
It means watching less television.
It means good nutrition and eating smaller portions.
It means physical exercise.
It means looking someone in the eye while you are listening to what they have to say.
It means unsubscribing from a bunch of email subscriptions.
It means leaving Facebook groups.
It means a lot of things for me, but mainly it means slowing down and focus.
What do you have on your mind going into the New Year?
Side Note: This is what was on my mind at the beginning of January 2021.
