Today, I bring to you an edition of As The World Searches. This might become a regular segment on the blog. Maybe. So, what is everyone searching for on Google? Or what is trending, according to Google?
Top Trends
All Trends Saturday to Monday inclusive, US – unless otherwise notedTop Trending ‘what channel is…’ search was for ‘what channel is NFL on?’, which spiked +4,400% over the weekend
‘Where is Travis Kelce today?’ spiked +4,100%
‘What to do when pipes freeze?’ spiked +750% and was top searched in the Joplin MO-Pittsburg KS metro area, followed by Oklahoma City OK
Seattle was the top metro area searching for ‘plumber near me’
Fantasy novel ‘When the Moon Hatched’ was a top trending global search after its release on Saturday – top searched in Australia, followed by the US, where it was the top trending ‘when’ search not about sports on TV.
With all this cold weather lately. I’ll go ahead and do a Google search for you. Here are 5 Tips On What To Do If Your Pipes Freeze.
From Roto-Rooter
- Shut off the water main leading into the structure and open (not wide open, just open) any faucets connected to the pipe. This will reduce pressure on the frozen pipes and minimize flooding if the pipes burst. This is particularly important if you are going to be away from home.
- If the frozen pipe is exposed and visible, use a hair dryer or space heater to thaw the ice blockage. Do not use an open flame, and keep space heaters far enough away from walls and flammable materials to avoid fire risk!
- Examine exposed pipes for leaks. Even with the water main turned off, there will be enough pressure to reveal leaks once the pipe has thawed.

- Contact a professional plumber equipped with pipe-thawing equipment to get your pipes flowing again and, if necessary, make repairs to damaged pipes.
- Even if no leaks are found, a plumber should examine pipes that experienced a hard freeze. Some pipes may need to be replaced since the material has experienced stretching and fatigue, putting the pipes at risk for future failure.
In the Entertainment Section, people searched for what an EGOT is. It refers to an entertainer who has received all four awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Elton John, Rita Moreno, John Legend, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, and Viola Davis, to name a few. That’s who.
They also wanted to know who had the top red carpet-dress. But the most unusual search was people wanting to know who was the goblin at the Emmys. Some drag queen called Princess Poppy. Whoever that is. I also didn’t watch the awards show.
As far as Lifestyle goes, the searches were weather-related. Terms like thermal door blankets, snow cream recipes, and finger crochet were the top inquiries.
The Daily Quiz, though.
Which is more searched in the US, past day? Emmy Awards, Iowa Caucus, or the Buffalo Bills? Well, I can answer that without looking it up. The answer is the Buffalo Bills. Sports is ALWAYS trending whenever I look on Google Trends. Sports, sports, sports. All. The. Time.
I am not a big sports fan. SURPRISE! But I thought I’d supply you with 4 minutes of funny moments of the Buffalo Bills vs Steelers game that was postponed. At least it’s four minutes of fun, according to this Rumble channel:
Putting sports aside, people did search for Iowa Caucus issues, too. The top searched concerns were abortion, crime, gas prices, racism, and energy. And the apparent searches of the Where, When, and How of the Iowa caucuses.
