Amazon Prime Trickeration

There is some Amazon Prime trickeration going on.

A class action lawsuit was brought to the doorsteps of Amazon Prime for adding an option to stream your entertainment ad-free for an additional price. Wait, what? Are we not already paying for that privilege?

Amazon Prime Video is facing backlash from subscribers over changes to its streaming service that now includes ads by default. Some subscribers are so upset that they have filed a class action lawsuit against the e-commerce giant, alleging that the service they paid for is now “something worth less,” and that Amazon’s actions are “deceptive.”Breitbart

I noticed it the other day when I brought up the app on my television to browse the movie section. It prompted me to continue as is, and now I’ll see some ads or upgrade for an additional $2.99 monthly to get the ad-free experience. I did not select the extra $2.99 a month, but I was pissed!

Remember when watching television was free? Granted, it was three channels and PBS, and you were also chained to the broadcaster’s schedule. As a young adult, I couldn’t imagine having unencumbered access to Sonny Crockett (Miami Vice).

Nowadays, you can watch whatever you want, whenever you want, and wherever you want. But there’s a catch. For me, anyway, it’s a catch. You still have to sign up and subscribe to several different platforms, which could end up equalling the amount we used to pay for cable!

Entertainment Chaos

Hulu, Peacock, Disney, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Paramount, and Max, to name a few. And that’s not even getting anywhere near sports!

I know we are all used to complaining about cable, lamenting that there must be a better way! So, enter the streaming services, and here we are again. There has to be something better. Especially since we willingly signed up to pay for each service in the hopes of a better viewing experience, and now they want to show us ads, too? No, thank you.

And then there is this kind of crap. Michael Knowles breaks down Amazon Prime’s newest series for children, teaching them that Satan is a hero.

Right before the end of 2023, I proclaimed that 2024 would be my reading year. It is time to pick up a book and turn off the television.

I am glad I signed up and paid for the new Bentkey from The Daily Wire!

The Gent and I usually get our grandson every Saturday. And now he can enjoy Saturday morning cartoons the old-fashioned way, with innocent laughter, entertainment, and even learning purposes because Bentkey is more than just cartoons.
