Election Day Is Tomorrow, Then What?

Election Day, Now What

We don’t have early voting here in Alabama, so approximately 5 million citizens will hopefully head to the voting booth tomorrow to exercise their right to vote. November 5th is the day for 2024, and Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are the choices. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Oliver Chase, and Jill Stein are on the ballot, too. But come on. If you can’t stand Donald Trump and don’t care for Kamala, you can vote for RFKJ or one of the other two.

But Donald and Kamala are the leading picks. One of those two is going to win. And I have never witnessed such a divided country before in my lifetime. It has progressively gotten worse over the last decade-plus years since Obama.

So what happens when it’s all over?

First, will we even know the winner that night? Or even a few days from election night? I hope it doesn’t get tied up in courts for weeks. That would be ridiculous. However, that is where we seem to be today’s American politics. It’s absurd.

Let’s say it doesn’t get tied up in courts, and a front-runner is a blowout on one side. Then what?

Kamala’s side will tell you that if Donald wins, our country will be in Hitler-esque times, and Trump will become our dictator, putting all of his opponents and the media in prison camps. Not to mention, they think that putting the Roe Vs Wade issue back into the state’s hands is an atrocity to women’s desires to kill their babies.

Donald’s side will tell you that if Kamala wins, it will be the end of all our freedoms, and Marxism will be in full force. You can forget about any liberties you have and expect lockdowns, rioting, crime sprees, a flood of immigrants running rampant, and women offering up living children for sacrifice.

I’ve been writing for The Victory Girls for over two years. In doing so, I’ve had to pay extra attention to the news, headlines, politics, and such. It is wearing thin, I have to admit. I am starting to think that no matter who wins this election, I may have to give up my online presence, including blogging about politics.

Maybe I’ll pick up knitting again, learn how to start an urban garden or take up a hobby that will keep me physically busy and away from the internet. I also need to get to a slew of books sitting on a shelf at home.

Something is telling me I’d better start pulling my family in closer. My main staples of life right now are work, physical fitness, eating, hygiene, and sleep. Sadly, I spend most of my free time reading news articles and social media on my stupid cell device or laptop. That’s sad and induces negativity, doom, and gloom for America’s future.

After the last two years of having my attention focused on politics, I have had enough. The thought of simplifying my life to exiting the online world is quite appealing. In December, I will turn 58 years old, and I don’t want to continue to live in dread and uneasiness. I want to enter my golden years with joy and happiness. Giving my time to politics is not going to help.

Keeping my head in politics and news I can’t control will not create an immediate nurturing future for my grandson.

The next few days are going to be interesting. Pay attention to others around you; they will show themselves to you.

And might I suggest opening your Bible, too? I’ve been listening to Father Mike’s podcast, The Bible In A Year. Before I started listening to the podcast, I read the Bible myself. Listening to the podcast in my car on my drive to and from work has been enlightening. It also makes me want to continue studying, reading, and learning more independently.

So, I think that will be a start in keeping my sanity between reading and picking up a hobby I can do with my hands. There is so much more to do than sit around reading through social media. Gah, I barely remember the time before the internet. I want to get back to that. Is it possible? Or am I all Pollyanna, sticking my head in the sand about the progressive future? Either way, I don’t care. I can’t control or change anything outside of me, so I’ll look within, pray, and try to live God’s will.
