No Laughing Matter

No Laughing Matter

Man, does no one have a sense of humor anymore? This is no laughing matter. Those cute and sometimes funny electronic signs you see on the highway while you travel will be no more. The big bad government says so. You will not be entertained! Oh, you’ll still see the signs. They’ll just be void of any sort of humor.

The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has given states two years to implement all the changes outlined in its new 1,100-page manual released last month, including rules that spells out how signs and other traffic control devices are regulated. – KRDO.com

So, instead of being humored with some pop culture reference or having a catchy phrase seared in your brain to remember, we are resorting to mind-numbing boringness.

Among those that will be disappearing are messages such as “Use Yah Blinkah” in Massachusetts; “Visiting in-laws? Slow down, get there late,” from Ohio; “Don’t drive Star Spangled Hammered,” from Pennsylvania; “Hocus pocus, drive with focus” from New Jersey; and “Hands on the wheel, not your meal” from Arizona. – KRDO.com

In my best Joe Biden voice, “Come on, Man!

No one has a sense of humor anymore?

Speaking of people not laughing anymore. How about Taylor Swift and Ariana DeBose getting their knickers in a wad at some self-aggrandizing awards shows?

Taylor Swift couldn’t laugh at herself over the tame joke made about cameras at the NFL.

And now  Ariana DeBose, whoever that is, also didn’t find it funny with a silly wisecrack made her way about being an actor who thinks she can sing. Whatever.

What is it with these young women taking everything so seriously? Lighten up, ladies. Smile! 🤣

At least with all the seriousness now, could it mean that Taylor has been in a steady relationship with someone for at least three short months? At least publicly, anyway. They went public with their affair in October of 2023, but who knows how long they have been seeing each other.

Okay, I got way off-topic, back to the no-fun electronic sign messages by the big daddy government.

Some states have hundreds of these signs along their highways. Some state Department of Transportation hold contests for residents to submit their funnies for the signage. The federal government comes into the states, telling them what they can and can’t do. Where is the line drawn?

I’ll leave you with this little oldy but goody when the Washington Department of Transportation employees decided to leave a message for the Governor and Secretary of Transportation regarding vaccine mandates.

Indeed. Well played, everyone. Well played.
