It’s getting nasty out there ya’ll. What is happening to us? What did we do to get here? Where did we veer off?
It’s Getting Nasty Out There
Now, full disclosure, I don’t see it in my every day life here in Alabama. Everyone I encounter or talk to or interact with; we are all civil and regular people. I have not had one single bad interaction with anyone about anything.
But when I turn on the news? WTF? I know people will say, “Well don’t turn on the news then.” But come on, is that really an answer? I suppose it is but I still like to turn on the news or radio and get some sort of information but the information that is given to us now? My God, help us all.
This morning, I turned on the news like I always do and of course there is the daily briefing. The first question out of a reporter’s mouth, and from a fairly conservative outlet, has to try and go in microscopically about the President’s stance on white supremacy. Really? First of all, a stance? The line of questioning was absolutely ridiculous. And the reporter kept going several more times even after the question was answered emphatically and resolutely with a clear answer.
The next question was from a woman reporter, probably the same age as Kayleigh McEnany, and I couldn’t hear a damn thing because they continued to talk over each other.
I turned it off.
What has happened to us? And I listened to the debates. Which in my opinion was horrendous. Everyone behaved badly. I couldn’t watch it because I was at work so I listened to it and I don’t know if that made a difference or not. I think not. It was upsetting and disappointing.
Even though I understood the points the President was making and agreed with him, it was presented terribly. There I said it.
We seemed to have come to a place that no matter what you say, it is not good enough. Or, what you say will be taken so out of context that your life can be ruined. Or, even what you don’t say will be used against you.
I just shake my head sometimes because I honestly don’t know how we got here. You notice I keep asking and saying that throughout; how did we get here? I don’t know. But it’s nasty out there.
And can we even stop it and go back? No, that answer I do understand completely. It is No. We have become so divided, and it’s not just two sides. I blame it all on people who feel the need to be classified into groups. Gender, race, religion, sexual orientation – everyone says they want to be treated equal just so long as it’s special.
But the hate and violence? This is something new. I don’t know how or if it will stop.
And the election? Forget about it. It is going to be a shit show. Who knows what is going to happen, either way, or even if we will have a definitive answer.
Life will go on, I think it will go on normally where I live no matter what the outcome is to be. Which tells me a few things…..
- We can still be decent to one another, as we are still doing now.
- The government is way too big and has way too much control.
- The big media is nothing but a terribly produced reality show.
And something I have always told my children, Don’t believe everything you hear and only half of what you see. Edgar Allan Poe – Believe nothing you hear, and only half that you see.
It’s getting nasty out there. Let’s bundle up.
